Hello, and welcome to my first blog entry for Velasco Consulting. I’m Jason Velasco, and I’m excited to share a bit about my journey and why I’m passionate about helping entrepreneurs and professionals become the best versions of themselves. This marks a new chapter in my career, and I invite you to join me on this journey.
My Journey
Over the last 25 years, I’ve worn many hats—entrepreneur, business coach, product manager, and competitive poker player. My career has been a thrilling ride, filled with building companies from the ground up, leading teams, and tackling significant eDiscovery and Information Governance projects. From founding RenewData in 1999 and leading it to success, to guiding numerous startups as an advisory board member, my experiences have shaped who I am today.
I have spent the last 10 years building eDiscovery, Knowledge Management, and IG programs and products while getting certifications such as the Certified eDiscovery Specialist (CEDS), Information Governance Professional (IGP), and Chief Information Governance Officer (CIGO). At the same time, I’ve taken a personal journey learning mindset as well as how people work and use data to make decisions.
By studying human behavior and analyzing data patterns, I’ve developed a deeper understanding of how to effectively communicate, collaborate, and drive results. This knowledge has been instrumental in shaping my mindset and approach to problem-solving, enabling me to make more informed and strategic decisions. This led me to working and receiving my Life Coaching certification to learn a formal framework to enhance the careers and lives of individuals as well as teams.
The Transition:
Now, I’m making a big transition. While I’ve loved the excitement and challenges of building companies and managing large-scale projects, my true passion lies in helping individuals and teams reach their full potential. Velasco Consulting focuses this desire to focus on the things I love—mentoring entrepreneurs, guiding the creation of innovative technologies, and sharing the life lessons I’ve learned along the way.
Integrating Life Lessons:
Throughout my journey, I’ve learned valuable lessons about mindset, health, relationships, financial balance, and critical thinking. One of the unique aspects of my approach is integrating these lessons with strategic decision-making principles from poker. Poker has taught me the importance of assessing risk, understanding human behavior, and making informed decisions under pressure—skills that are incredibly valuable in the business world.

At Velasco Consulting, my goal is to empower entrepreneurs and professionals with the tools and methodologies I’ve developed over the years.
